Managing Conversations

Overview

Every conversation in Ask DioS appears as a row in the conversation rail on the left side of the DioS screen. Each row has a menu of actions — rename, pin, mark unread, archive, and delete — that let you organize your conversation history.

The row menu

Hover over any conversation row to reveal a ⋮ (more actions) button on the right side of the row. Click it to open the menu with all five actions.

Rename

Give a conversation a clearer title than the one DioS generated automatically.

  • Open the row menu and select Rename, or double-click the conversation row directly — both open the same inline editor.
  • The current title is pre-selected, so you can start typing to replace it entirely, or use the arrow keys to edit part of it.
  • Press Enter to save, or Escape to cancel.

Pin

Keep an important conversation at the top of the rail.

  • Open the row menu and select Pin. The conversation moves above every other conversation, including ones updated more recently.
  • Pinned conversations stay pinned across sessions.
  • To remove the pin, open the row menu again and select Unpin.

Mark as unread

This is a manual bookmark you set yourself — not an automatic unread-message indicator. DioS does not mark a conversation unread on its own when a new answer arrives in it; the flag only ever appears because you explicitly chose Mark as unread from the row menu, as a way to flag a conversation you want to come back to.

  • Open the row menu and select Mark as unread. The conversation's title appears in bold in the rail.
  • Opening the conversation clears the flag automatically — so if you mark the conversation you're currently reading as unread, it will clear again the next time you open it.
  • To clear the flag without opening the conversation, select Mark as read from the row menu.

Archive

Move a conversation out of your main list without deleting it.

  • Open the row menu and select Archive. The conversation moves into a collapsed Archived (n) section at the bottom of the rail, where n is the number of archived conversations.
  • Click Archived (n) to expand the section and see the conversations inside it.
  • To bring a conversation back to the main list, open its row menu from inside the Archived section and select Unarchive.
  • If every conversation in your rail is archived, the main list shows "All your conversations are archived." instead of appearing empty — the Archived section is still there below it.

Delete

Remove a conversation from your conversation list.

  • Open the row menu and select Delete, then confirm in the dialog that appears. This can't be undone from the DioS interface.
  • Once deleted, the conversation disappears from your conversation list immediately and is no longer reachable — you cannot open it, rename it, archive it, pin it, or continue chatting in it, even if you still have a link or an old browser tab open to it.
  • For audit purposes, the underlying record and its message history are retained on the server rather than being purged outright, the same way DataDios retains other audit trails — but this is not a "restore" feature accessible from the product. Once deleted, treat the conversation as permanently gone from your workflow.

Troubleshooting

  • Archived section shows a conversation I thought I deleted. Archive and Delete are different actions — Archive keeps the conversation reachable in a collapsed section; only Delete removes it from your list entirely. Open the row menu on the archived conversation and select Delete if you meant to remove it.
  • A conversation I marked unread isn't bolded anymore. Opening a conversation always clears its unread flag, even if you only glanced at it. Mark it unread again from the row menu if you still want the reminder.
  • My rail looks empty but I know I have conversations. Check for a collapsed Archived (n) section at the bottom of the rail — an all-archived rail shows an explanatory message instead of a blank list, but conversations you're looking for may be inside that section.
