AI Insights

AI Insights explains a query's performance in plain language and suggests changes to investigate. It uses the query detail and drill-down context you opened in Performance Analyzer and sends that context to your tenant's configured AI reasoning source.

Before you start​

AI Insights uses the tenant-wide AI · reasoning source. An administrator binds that source under Manage → Integrations → Catalog → AI · reasoning. If the tenant has no usable AI reasoning source, the inline banner explains that AI Insights is unavailable; the rest of Performance Analyzer continues to work normally.

View insights for a query​

  1. Open Performance Analyzer and drill into a query from a query table or a drill-down graph.
  2. Open the query detail view. The AI Insights banner appears above the Query Text and Query Plan content when the query has enough detail to be analysed.
  3. Expand the collapsed banner to request the analysis. Nothing is sent to the AI source before you expand it.

The banner presents the response as compact, collapsible sections rather than a tab strip:

  • Summary gives the model's overall explanation.
  • Key findings lists the important observations.
  • Analysis groups performance measurements and query patterns.
  • Recommendations lists suggested actions. Expand an item to see its Cause, Impact, and Action details, or choose Ask DioS to investigate it in the assistant.
  • Risks lists risks and mitigations.
  • Next steps lists follow-up checks in order.

Only sections returned by the model are shown. Sections and individual items start collapsed so the query detail remains compact. The banner header shows the number of returned insights and the age of the cached response.

Refresh an analysis​

Use Regenerate insights in the banner header to request a fresh analysis. Reopening the same query within the cache period reuses the existing response instead of calling the model again. A different query, time window, or drill-down path has a different analysis context.

If generation fails, the banner displays an error and a Retry action. If the AI reasoning source is not configured or cannot be reached, follow the integration link shown in the banner or ask an administrator to configure it.

Good to know​

  • The analysis reflects the query and time window used to build the detail view.
  • Drill-down paths are analysed separately from the parent query.
  • AI Insights are advisory. Review suggested index, schema, or caching changes before applying them to production.
  • AI responses can be incomplete or occasionally incorrect; use the query plan and workload metrics to validate a recommendation.
